I've Studied: Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Modern

I Am A: Other:, Web Editor, Writer

About Me: As a former professional dancer-turned-writer, I've spent the last seven years translating my performing, teaching and choreographing experience to the page. It's been my great honor to have articles published in Dance Magazine, Dance Spirit, Dance Teacher, Pointe and Dance Retailer News. I've also written six non-fiction children's books on dance for Capstone Press, on the topics of breaking, dance teams, jazz, modern, swing and Irish Step dance. Before committing to my scribe status full-time, I was captain of the national-championship winning NYU dance team, performed at the Grammy and Bollywood Awards, and was a member of the all-female hip-hop troupe Decadancetheatre. Coolest interviews: Wade Robson, Patrick Swayze, Debbie Allen, MC Hammer, Shane Sparks, Popin' Pete, Mr. Freeze, Jerry Mitchell, Nigel Lythgoe.

This is quite possibly the awesomest video I've seen on the internet in a long time. Check out this dancing walrus, who turns in a perfectly-timed routine to Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal."
  • Robot Dancer

A ballerina from the English National Ballet poses gracefully next to a...robot snake? That's right. A two-meter tall snake-bot was on display at the Streetwise Robots event on May 6 at the London Science Museum's Dana Center. The work of Merlin Robotics, Nottingham Trent University, and the Edinburgh College of Art, the slithery mechanical snake mimics the dexterous movements of a ballerina, sliding up her arm as she performs a por de bras. Pretty soon, we may see dancing robots onstage alongside prima ballerinas! An exciting development, if you ask me.
