My Bio: Marta Bercy Artistic Director and Choreographer Contemporary & Afro-Cuban Dance Master / Tedancari Dance Company. PRODANZA CENTER - Havana, Cuba Member of the Pro Dance Center of the Cuban National Ballet ( 1987-1998) Member of the Staff of Teachers of the ¨CUBALLET "(International Practical Course of the Cuban School of Ballet) directed by Alicia and Laura Alonso General Director - Cía. Tedancari (theatre dance La Caridad) Buenos Aires, Argentina. Was formed in Ballet and later in Dance in Havana, Cuba. Her career as a dancer from 1970 to 1986 includes acting in important works by choreographs such as: Alberto Alonso, Víctor Cuéllar, Azari Plisetski She has worked in prestigious theaters such as: • Teatro Mella, Marti • Alejo Carpentier Hall in the Great Theater of Havana. • Friedrichstadpalast, Berlin • National Theater of Sofía, Bulgaria, among others • Great Theater of Havana. (García Lorca) In 1983, her first choreography, "Unicornio" (Music by: Silvio Rodriguez), was released in Cuba and Managua, Nicaragua. In 1987, she became a member of the Staff of Teachers of the Prodance Center, under the direction of Laura Alonso, and also became a member of the Cuballet under the presidency of Alicia Alonso. In 1995 she was granted the title of First Level Teacher, the highest category ever granted to an artist in Cuba. Later, in 1988, she created, "Extraños ("Strangers") (Music: Jean Michel Jarre) with Nery Torres and Sjef Annink of Holland, which debuted in the Garcia Lorca Hall in the Great Theater of Havana. In that same year, the choreography was again performed by principal dancers of the Dominican National Classic Ballet, as were "Frente al Mar" ("In front of the Sea")" and "Unicorn," in the National Theater of Santo Domingo. In 1990, "Remembranzas ("Remembrances") (Music: J.S Bach) was released with soloist Julio Arozarena of the National Ballet of Cuba in the Garcia Lorca Hall and was included in the repertory of the National Ballet of Cuba's La Joven Guardia. Luis Bravo of the Pennsylvania Theatre Ballet danced the choreography later that year in Havana and in the United States. In 1993 • Created and directed "Nosotros y después?" ("Us and afterwards?")" • "Reto a Dos" ("Challenge for Two") (Music: A.Vollenweider) • "El Espacio es de Dios" ("Space belongs to God") (Music: A.Marcello) • "De Ochun pa Chango" ("From Ochun to Chango" (Yorubas Songs) • "Cuando se tarda la Luna ("The Moon Takes a Long Time") (Music: Mayra Ibarra) • "Nosotros y después?" ("Us and afterwards?")" A musical collage with invited artist Alicia Bruzzo as leading lady in Muiño Hall in the prestigious San Martín Cultural Center, in Buenos Aires. In 1997, she released • " Equilibrio" ("Balance") (Music: Pablo Milanes and Ariel Argudin) • "Tumbadora en Danza Mayor" ("Percussion in Major Dance") (Cuban Percussion) in the Borges Cultural Center Auditorium and the Quijote Theater in Buenos Aires. • Judge for the First and Third International Ballet and Dance Contest of Buenos Aires and the Buenos Aires Youth Competition. • Choreographic adviser for the performance "Bola de Nieve" ("Snow Ball") at the Metropolitan Theater in Buenos Aires. She has been acknowledged for her work by: • the General Director of Fine Arts of the Dominican Republic • the Government of the Province of Tucuman • the Ballet Marta Lertora • the Ballet Liliana Biagini • the Superior Institute of the Arts, General Roca. She received a title acknowledging her Artistic Trajectory from the Direction of Culture of the City of La Plata, Argentina. • In September, 2003, she created the 1st International Workshop of Contemporary and Afrocuban Dances, and she founded "TEDANCARI" as its Director and Choreographer, releasing "Elegguá and the Dreams" and "Open Way", two works that blend contemporary dance with popular and afro dance, released in the Atheneo Theater ND in October of the same year. • In 2005, she released • "Improntus" (Music: Celtic / Senegal) In 2006, she released • "Macorina" ( Music: Cuban Son "Macorina" ) • "Bolero en Tres" (Music: Cuban romantic song) • "El Viaje" Choreography: Marta Bercy / Music: Lambarena - Bach to Africa This Piece is a commentary on the continuous emigration of human beings throughout the centuries. Thanks to this phenomenon...the evolution of Humanity.
