My Bio: Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, Inc., a separately-incorporated, 501(c)(3) organization located on the campus of Lehman College in the Bronx, was established in 1980 to provide the underserved residents of the borough and surrounding communities with access to affordable, culturally-diverse music, dance and theatre performances. The elegant 2,310-seat Concert Hall, showcases international, national, and local performing artists, including both celebrity and emerging talents. Special free weekday performances for Bronx public schools and outreach programs for senior citizens and at-risk clients of Bronx-based service agencies enhance the Centerâ€TMs offerings. Concert Hall programming reflects the rich traditions of a diverse population, including Latinos, African-Americans, West Indians, Africans, Russians, Irish, Italians, Albanians, and Asians. In 2006-2007, 40 Center events directly served an audience of 50,000, with service to an additional 100,000 community residents who passed through the Centerâ€TMs doors to attend rental events sponsored by area church groups, service organizations, and commercial promoters.
