dancing for a tellent show.
Okay so there is a tallent show at my church and I woud be the first person to ever dance for that thing. before I had done a tallent show at another church and I was the only dancer there. One of my friends said that I had looked like I had been dancing for 40 years when I had done some basic steps.
I thanked her for the comment, past that time I have been wanting to perform solo again at a tallent show. I've been looking for a chance and now I have one. This year I am doing a poem but I am hopping to do a dance my last to years of high school.
I had a dance worked out and I have the costume mostly. I just need a top had and fishnet sleeves. I had the dance out and everything, I wrote down the moves and it worked with the music though there were a few problems. I had a friend who had been dancing longer than I had so it all worked out.
Lyrical Reigns Supreme
The competition season is in full swing. I have worked four weekends in a row and have seen many great tap, ballet, and jazz numbers, but found that lyrical still remains the largest section in the program. What piqued my interest this past weekend was a very good school in New Jersey that used much more subversive music. "One", a solo, was danced to the hidden track on the Damien Rice album "O" that slipped through the cracks where "The Blower's Daughter" and "Cold Water" did not.
Laura Nyro - I Met Him on a Sunday
Jenny Lewis covered this song on her tour with the Watson Twins last year. It was an homage to the great feminist singer-songwriter Laura Nyro. Both the Alvin Ailey Dance Company and the Canadian Ballet have used Nyro's music in performance.
