Location: America Theatre-Av.Galiano 253, Centro Habana, Cuba.
Workuba is a one week intensive dance workshop that is offered twice a year (usually in February and September). Classes are held for the following levels: Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced. This workshop offers classes that teach a variety of Latin dances that have their roots in African dance. In addition, classes in complementary artistic techniques as they relate to dance/performance are offered.
Our team of instructors are professional Teachers with a wide range of dance/choreography experience and artistic achievements:
Jazz, Modern, Teacher, Enthusiast, Competitions & Conventions, Performance, Summer Study, Afro-Cuban, Rumba, Salsa, Tango, beginner, dancers, dancing, teachers, workshop (all tags)
Anorexia and Ballet - The Dangerous Link
The applauding audience, the lights, sequins and feathers, the colorful, elaborate tutus, and satin pointe shoes capture the hearts of young girls. Where else can a young girl dream of becoming a princess, a swan, a dancing snowflake or flower, or a sugarplum fairy? Where else can she be a fairy tale character like Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty? Where else can she be rescued by her handsome prince and collapse into his arms? Ballet is the magical world where these dreams can come true. Young girls and women can be all of these things, symbolizing femininity in a culture that teaches young girls to be and want everything pink and pretty. However, in the shadow of the spotlight lurks an abusive world of eating disorders and malnourished dancers.
The Relationship Between Dancers and Musicians
When it comes to dancing and music, the two are so closely connected that each shares some traits with the other and each compliments the other to form a unique work of art and entertainment.
