Performance Time!

Hey ya'll!

Ok. So we all know that around the holidays we all have a ton of performances: either the nutcracker, competitions, or other performances that your studios do.  Right around the time of said performance, your teacher(s) always tell you to watch what you are eating so that you are perfectly fit and able to dance your best on the performance date. But what exactly are we supposed to do to make sure this happens?

MERCURY

Oscar winning actress, Cate Blanchett is the Artistic Director. Mr Giorgio Armani is the patron. I am introducing you to Sydney Theatre Company, home performance venue for the world renowned, Sydney Dance Company. What an amazing venue to house such an incredible dance company. All so shiny and modern, this artsy, wharf side complex encases a book store, bar, restaurant and state of the art theatres.
I recently attended STC to watch Sydney Dance Company`s performance of MERCURY. I must say, simplicity speaks volumes boldly.

IT'S BRITNEY B#@*H! Fans walk out on her world tour

Britney's CIRCUS continues around the world but gathers some disappointing press.
Absolutely trashed by fans and media alike for not singing throughout her concert, her lip-synching has caused uproar for ticket holders who paid to hear her live and has fans walking out! Brit and camp claim that her show is too vigorous with all of the dance involved. I went along to see what the fuss is all about.

Ethics of Professional Dancers

I have been working professionally 'hans solo' aka of my own volition...... for the past 8 years.  Due to my awesome parents and upbringing, I was taught to respect others, respect your career, and it will be reciprocated.

Now transferring that into the dance world.... yes, in auditions, I rock it out, stand in front.  Yes in choreography meetings I sell myself to book that job.  Yes, I cold call and submit my reels to people all over the country, focusing on booking industrials, tv shows, stage and the like, truly believing that I am the best one for the job.

Maybe call it the 29 year old in me, but I would NEVER do this:

Miss Dance of the United States on NBC!

ATLANTIC CITY--A number of men and women in uniform who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan are about to get a sweet treat.

Through November, the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, located at The Walk in Atlantic City, will match the amount of fudge that's purchased at the store.

The grand total of fudge, expected to be upwards of 200 pounds, will then be shipped overseas, just in time for the holidays, "...The troops are away from home and they're doing a great thing for our country everyday, this is the least we can do, and give them our thanks," said Frank Stollenwerk, owner of the store.

"...We've gotten a pretty good response and people are actually buying fudge, but not even taking it home, and saying, just send this overseas."

Lending her support to the 'Fudge for Soldiers Program' Wednesday afternoon was one very special fudge maker, Nicole Dlug, Miss Dance of the United States 2009, who was in town for several Veterans Day appearances, "....its one of those comfort foods...you have your necessities that are being shipped over, and there's so many things that you miss back home, and this is little things like chocolate and how much everyone loves to indulge...its just one of those things that I'm sure just brings a little piece of home to where they are."
