Performance Time!

Hey ya'll!

Ok. So we all know that around the holidays we all have a ton of performances: either the nutcracker, competitions, or other performances that your studios do.  Right around the time of said performance, your teacher(s) always tell you to watch what you are eating so that you are perfectly fit and able to dance your best on the performance date. Houston Ballet's Got The Nutcracker Covered

In the music industry artists often release new renditions, called covers, of previously recorded and released songs. Often these are explorations and reworkings of the original material, designed to pay tribute to the original, reach a new audience demographic, and/or encourage the listener's interest in the artist by hooking them with a familiar tune. For similar reasons, dance companies worldwide add their versions of The Nutcracker to the fray, making it the most "covered" ballet narrative in the dance world. In this sea of re-hashed material, how does a dance company create a variation that will be a stand-out and beloved at the same time? While there may be no concrete answer to this question, Ben Stevenson's  choreography, as performed by Houston Ballet, is an excellent model of this elusive formula.

"Nutcracker for Kids" - A Magical Performance for Youngsters

"Nutcracker for Kids" provides a refreshing production of the holiday tradition for children of any age, but especially the tiny dancers. Dance For Joy in Mohegan Lake, NY will present their kid-friendly version of the classic for the first time, with performances on December 20 and 21, 2008 at the Tom Thumb Theater on East Main Street in Mohegan Lake, NY.

Male Partners/Dancers Needed

Academy of Classical Ballet is looking for Male Dancers for Partnership roles in the annual Nutcracker Production.

Roles Available include:

Nutcracker Prince (Ballet experience preferred but not necessary, Any Age)
Snow King (Ballet experience preferred but not necessary, Any Age)
Arabian Attendant (Ballet experience preffered but not necessary, Any Age)

Other Male Roles Include:
Party Scene Parents (20's-50's, No experience necessary, Acting a plus)
Soldiers (Boys 5-10, No experience necessary)

Paid Position (For Partner Roles)
Ballet experience preferred but not necessary any dance style welcome.
Any age welcome.
Everyone will be trained!

The days of the performance are November 28, 29, 30
Please do not respond if you are not available those days
We also have Mandatory Dress/Tech Rehearsals November 25, 26
We need you ASAP Rehearsals start this weekend!
