What I Did on My Summer Non-Vacation This Last Week!

Working hard at ProDance, or was it hardly working?

ProDance was last week in Houston. It was the 10th anniversary of this fine convention for professional sports-team, cheerleaders and dancers. Also attending, were some prestigious college dance teams. A big shout-out to Texas A-and-M!!

Rosalyn Jones is the founder and director of this venture. Rosalyn was the choreographer and director of the NBAs San Antonio Spurs for many years, and runs Cheers Cheerleading and Dance Studio in her Texas hometown of San Antonio.

It was a little smaller this year, not out of line with other dance and cheer events held during this recession, but worthwhile, non-the-less. Rosalyn was not able to bring in the biggest national choreographers this year. Tabitha and Napoleon, with their huge popularity from So You Think You Can Dance were absent, but their clothing line made it!

If you are a prodancer or an procheerleader, do not pass up the opportunity next year, to be a part of this valuable event. And, if your college dance team can manage it, GO! ProDance has a myspace.com page where you can learn more. Or click from our Satin Stitches Links Page. I made new connections and reconnections.

Oh yuk, I am watching THE FINALS on Fox tonight while writing this. I definitely did NOT care for the costuming for Mia Michaels girl duo presentation on So You Think You Can Dance. Whats up with the nude bodysuit showing on the bustline area throughout the entire strip-or was it the dance of the 7 veils? Hmmm.

But then you know I am more glitzy-fancy, in my costume preferences. I do not care for too-naked-looking attire.

I purposely have not critiqued the costuming for this show, this season, as I have not been able to catch all the shows. I have tuned in to at least half of the shows. I tuned OUT the preliminaries, just as with American Idol, as I really do not enjoy watching untalented dancers vying for attention and their 15 seconds of infamous fame. Give me the GOOD dancing!!!

What I have seen, has been mostly REALLY, really good! Last year I LOVED many of the dancers, including Courtney-the Knicks City Dancer and especially Joshua, whom I fell in love with. This year I do not seem to have had as big a connection to any individual dancer, but overall, I have enjoyed most of the routines. And I have enjoyed most of the costuming. And do you know what? Nary a nude elastic strap-gotta love it!

I also have really enjoyed tuning in to see what the host, Cat Deeley has worn. Not only is she a chameleon with her outfits, but with her hair and makeup. And of course since I grew up with the British invasion with the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Hermans Hermits and many more, I love listening to her accent!

I like all of the final four dancers. Each and every one is extremely talented and personable. I wish them all the best of luck as they dance into their futures.

I am looking forward to the new season of So You Think You Can Dance, along with the show GLEE, a drama about show choir! Fun, fun, fun! Singing and dancing-a wonderful combination. It is television that I love.

And WOW! As I continue writing my blog and viewing the show, I was just thrilled with the dancing, choreography and costuming for Brandon and Jeanine, with their Matrix Paso Doble number. Whew! Bring it on!!!

I am adding my picture this morning, back at work. This summer has been really lovely, so far, here in Minnesota. How is YOUR summer going?
