STEP UP 3D, TVMOVES2 and GROOVALOO!!

Last night! TVMOVES 2! A sold out evening of dance for the Academy of Arts and Sciences held at The Wadsworth Theater in LA. Performances from SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, AMERICA'S BEST DANCE CREW, DANCING WITH THE STARS and SUPERSTARS OF DANCE were all performed live on stage as guest speakers Nigel Lythgoe, Debbie Allen, Shane Sparks and others discussed the impact of dance on television and the growing awareness of the art form around the world! It was very cool seeing the incredible variety of styles together at one venue; The Strikers from ABDC, contemporary duets from SYTYCD by Mandy Moore (love that table piece), the great Indian dance solo from SuperStars, a Michael Jackson tribute by Debbie Allen's Dance Academy, and so many others. Yours truly, The GROOVALOOS were asked to close out the evening with one of our performances from SuperStars of Dance! We chose the first crazy hospital number and had a total blast putting that piece up again and wrapping up a great night.
JRock, one of The Groovaloos was with us last night, but barely! He had just returned from New York after filming Step Up 3D! He and seven b-boys from The Groovaloos (Luigi, Moy, Cloud, Venum, Steelo, Spee-d, and Flipz) wrapped the state of the art film this weekend. He gave me the inside scoop on the film and man! Can't say too much, but from all accounts and from the dancers itself, dance-wise, this is going to be one of the greatest dance films ever made in our generation! Full solos, nice long edits that follow the dance and let the full groove and movement speak for itself. Incredible respect for the real thing! The last dance battle is apparently so impressive that the cast absolutely lost it when they saw just a cut of it. JRock said he had chills at how well it was filmed and how it was not cut to ribbons with over done edits and silly dance scenarios. Over 10 minutes of raw incredible dancing in 3D! And with so many great dancers in the film, the performances are all solid. One scene in particular with Adam Sevani, apparently has a great old feel as you see him and a girl use dance to travel down a street.  JRock said it was unbelievably done in one long beautiful take, NO CUTS! Sounds amazing!
So now! - The Groovaloos that were 3D-ing it from New York are back, the group of us that went to Canada and jammed at the Calgary Stampede are back, the BeatFreaks are settling in so our Groovaloo girls from that crew are back! Time to focus in on GROOVALOO!! Our stage show opens here in LA in ONE MONTH!!
It's close, but the time is right. Everyone is getting ready. All these performers in one jammin', rockin', heartfelt, inspiring, 90 minute true-to-life show!! I'm so psyched! Yaaahhhh!! If you live in the LA area or NY or any where our tour is going and miss GROOVALOO, what can I say, you're sleepin'!!! Rehearsals begin next week. I'll be filling you in regularly with all the happenings as we prepare for our largest production to date! Until then...
Keep Groovin'!
