MCB Dancers in Balanchine's Concerto Barocco

MCB Dancers in Balanchine's Concerto Barocco

Well friends, here I go again.
This past Saturday I attended American Dance Awards and had an opportunity to spend time with ADA director, Gloria Jean Cuming. Had a great time with Gloria Jean.
While there I spent time with Olga Vigil, whose daughter Laura is a principal dancer with Orlando Ballet. Olga's younger daughter is a student of Patricia Penenori.
We also had a very nice chat with Alina Lanza, director of Just Dance It. I first met Alina when she was a student of Heidi and Joe Melchiona. Now she owns that studio and another.

Saturday night was a special pleasure as we attended Miami City Ballet with Liana Navarro, her daughter Daryli, and Natalie Jimenez, scholarship student at Miami City Ballet School.

Liana's former students Patricia and Jeanette Delgado were superb in Concerto Barocco, a Balanchine piece that has always been one of my favorite ballets.

The next ballet, In The Night by Jerome Robbins, featured Katia Carranza, Mary Carmen Catoya, Patricia Delgado, and their partners Yang Zou, Rolando Serabia, and Jeremy Cox, who is a former student of Gloria Jean's.

The last ballet, Symphony In C, is a tour de force by Balanchine. The dancers in all three ballets were wonderful. This company has grown so much, and receives much acclaim wherever they perform.
Another dancer who we know is Amanda Weingarten, former student of Dan Deal. We know Amanda and Dan from Florida Dance Masters. Amanda appeared in Barocco and C, and recently had a lead role in Don Quixote and was amazing.

Also with me at the Miami City Ballet performance were Ann Williams of Greenville, Mississippi and south Florida and Ann's good friend Liz Katz, of Palm Beach County.

This coming Saturday night April 11, we travel to The Kravis Center in Palm Beach County to see Rasta Thomas and Adrienne Canterna and The Bad Boys Of Dance and The Pretty Girls Of Dance. I'm really looking forward to seeing this performance and visiting with Rasta and Adrienne.

Happy dance trails to you.
Let me hear from you. Let me know what's on your mind.
