MAMMA MIA here we go again!

Hey!
I was invited to the Family and Friends show, playing the evening prior to opening night for Mamma Mia in Sydney, Australia.
Most people haven`t been to a run like this. The director and team are set up front of house in the theatre. The show is formally introduced to the audience and you as the audience, consisting of family and friends of the artists, are rooting for the performers to do their very best. Command the laughs, perform all of the choreography with precision, hit every note and feed off of the energy of the audience.

Mamma Mia was a fun show to see in this format. It was particularly interesting for me to see it performed with an Australian cast in full Aussie accent, considering the film became a phenomenon and the Broadway version a smash hit. It took me a while to become accustomed to however, by mid way through the first half I was into it. The over the top humor of the show carries the story.
The simplicity of the set really works for this show and I appreciated it even more in this format than when I saw the show on Broadway.
The music of Abba makes it a party in your seat and brings the show to life!
Well done to the cast and all the best for the run and tour.
