BDC 25th Anniversary!

BROADWAY DANCE CENTER CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF DANCE NEW YORK—Broadway Dance Center (BDC) will celebrate its 25th Anniversary May 5 at the Manhattan Center Studios in Midtown. A multi-media performance showcase and ceremony will be held in the Grand Ballroom following weeklong festivities at Broadway Dance Center’s 45th Street studios. Broadway Dance Center is a leading Manhattan training ground for dance professionals, including pop stars, movie and TV personalities as well as many on- and off-Broadway performers. With 25 years in business, BDC is proud to be known as a “home away from home” for dancers. The celebration, with a “Past, Present and Future” theme, will include video footage, guest speakers and live performances choreographed by current faculty members. The studio’s founder, Richard Ellner, as well as iconic jazz dance choreographer, Frank Hatchett, will be honored along with many others who have played an influential role in Broadway Dance Center’s history. In the week prior to the anniversary celebration, Broadway Dance Center will start the festivities by offering discounted dance classes, contests and in-studio refreshments and prizes. Following the showcase, BDC will host a party to commemorate the studio’s longevity and those who contribute to its successes – yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Broadway Dance Center began as a small studio co-owned by Maurice Hines and Frank Hatchett (then called Hines-Hatchett) and evolved into the state-of-the-art studios it now calls home through a series of moves over the last 24 years. Broadway Dance Center was first located on 55th and Broadway, where it thrived until 1998, when it was forced to relocate. In 1998, the new studios opened on 57th Street, where even more growth happened, and the student base grew to more than 30,000. The current BDC Studio opened in May 2007 in the Theater District of Manhattan, and offers over 40 classes every day in over fifteen disciplines, guest teachers and professional master classes, a Children and Teen Program, scholarship opportunities for young dancers in training, and a thriving International Student Visa Program. Anniversary showcase tickets are available for purchase online or at Broadway Dance Center beginning February 5. Updated ticket information can be accessed at http://www.BroadwayDanceCenter.com. General admission tickets are $25.00. Seating is limited.
