Hi again! So as promised, here is an update about what is going on with BEings!  Literally about ten minutes after I posted the last blog I got an e-mail from Dance New Amsterdam saying our piece had been accepted to perform in their Works in Progress series; we are all so excited and grateful for the performance opportunity!  Unless you are a company with a lot of funds, you have to rely heavily on showcases that are produced by others.  So, for any of you who live in New York or plan on being here, BEings will be performing at Dance New Amsterdam in the Works in Progress series on September 20th at 5:30pm- we would love for you to come out!!

As far as rehearsal last night, it went really well (especially considering we worked from 9 to 11pm because space in New York is not easy to come by!)  I think it is really important to walk into a rehearsal with an idea, your own unique concept of something, but also with the willingness to listen to what your dancers have to say on the subject.  If a dancer cannot connect to the movement, what is the point in presenting it?!  Anyway, so the piece we are working on now is about trust, a subject we all deal with everyday.  The dancers in this piece, Elise, Missy, Claire, and Phil, found trust in each other very quickly â€" allowing really great things to enfold.   I really appreciate that my dancers walk in with such an open mind and are so able to do what I want the movement to be as well as bringing their intelligence to the table.  Speaking of the dancers, I would really like to give you a better introduction of the BEings members, so I think starting in my next blog I will introduce them to you individually with a picture and a bio, and maybe some fun facts!
Last thing before I head out for today; if you want to see a bit of a BEings rehearsal, check out our page on YouTube (soon to be on Dancer Flix on the Dancer Universe website as soon as it is fully up and running!).  The video up there is Elise rehearsing Lack of Understanding, the piece that was presented in April at the Steps Lab Series.  Anyway, as always, feel free to e-mail me at emilybufferd@danceruniverse.com with any questions/comments/concerns about BEings or any of the dancers!
