The wonderful folks up in Edmonton, Canada, have come up with a fantastic idea - a tap workshop that donates its proceeds to charity.  This year's Tap Into A Cure will be held August 13 to August 18 and will benefit two different charities.  Read on for more information.

Two short weeks from now, Edmonton will play host to Canada's premiere dance event. The response has been amazing so far, so sign up right away if you want to attend.  The workshop and other events (including a Tap Jam on the 14th and a GREAT tap inspired silent auction - see below for details) will benefit the Edmonton Hope Mission and TAP - The Africa Project, two great and worthy charities.

The faculty for the three-day workshop includes such luminaries as Bril Barrett, Chloe Arnold, Sarah Reich, Steffan Clemente (world renowned hip hop artist, "Mr. Wiggles") and the Emmy award winning Jason Samuels Smith, and they promise to get your heart beating, your feet tappin' and the rhythm stirring in your soul! Here are clips of these amazing talents:

The faculty will be joined by a cast of incredible talent on August 17th at 7 pm at Festival Place in Sherwood Park for the Magical Rhythms Showcase and Silent Auction. Among the guest talent are jazz singer Anna Beaumont, jazz musicians extraordinare The Marc Beaudin Trio, Edmonton's amazing Blue Eye Soul, hip hop's jaw-dropping dance group White Chocolate, the winner of Capital Ex's 2008 Northern Talent Search and  many  more. Tap Into A Cure also has some incredible items in their silent auction: a signed first edition book by Norman Mailer, "A Castle in the Woods", an autograph and picture of tap dancing legend Peg Leg Bates, an autograhed picture of the amazing Gregory Hines, a signed limited edition print of Tupac Shakur and much more.  If you would like to donate an item for the silent auction please contact the organizers at info@tapintoacure.com.

For more information on the event, check out their website at www.tapintoacure.com or email them at info@tapintoacure.com or phone (international long distance plus Canada country code) 780 722 9562.  And I bet that if you want to steal their idea and have a tap event for the charity of your choice, they wouldn't mind in the least.
