New Jersey Tap Ensemble from Tap City 2007

Is it only me, or does tap dance celebrate its past masters better than other dance forms?  Perhaps it's because tappers can perform far later into their careers than other dancers can, or maybe it's something else.  Whatever the reason, there are some great performances coming up that combine the best of the past with the best of the future, all creating the best of the present day of tap!

Tap is used to the pairing of young and old - Brenda Bufalino and Honi Coles, Roxanne Butterfly & Jimmy Slyde, Reggio McLaughlin & Ernest "Brownie" Brown.  This makes sense, since mentoring and partnering are a part of the tap tradition.  This coming weekend demonstrates the beauty of celebrating different generations of dance when "Tap and Song" is presented at Symphony Space in New York.  The tap cooperative C3 performs as part of an extraordinary line-up of tap dancers, including Brenda Bufalino, Barbara Duffy, DeWitt Fleming, Acia Gray, Susan Hebach, Jason Janas, Kendrick Jones, Ann Kilkelly, Mable Lee and her Dancing Ladies, Reggio McLaughlin, Margaret Morrison, Claudia Rahardjanoto, Mathew Sheilds, Hank Smith, Melinda Sullivan, the Tap City Youth Ensemble, Tapestry Dance Company, Tony Waag, Karen Callaway Williams and others.  Check it out and let us know what you think!
