SHOW ALERT: KEIGWIN + COMPANY at The Joyce Theater
KEIGWIN + COMPANY presents Elements:
Widely celebrated for work that is accessible and entertaining while remaining innovative and intelligent, Larry Keigwin and his company of dancers make their Joyce debut with the New York premiere of a work comprising of four suites underscored by a wide variety of music, from classical to hip-hop. Each suite is inspired by one of Nature's basic building blocks: Earth, Fire, Air and Water. Keigwin applies his signature imagination to loose, multiple interpretations of the elements, bending and twisting them into a sublime movement theater by turns funny, sentimental and paradoxical. Music will include pieces by Mozart, Chopin, Unk, Patsy Cline, Devo, Etta James and Perry Como, among others.
KEIGWIN + COMPANY is pleased to announce the New York premiere of Elements at The Joyce Theater from July 28 - August 1, 2008. The Joyce Theater is located at 175 Eighth Avenue at 19th Street, NYC. Tickets are $34, Joyce Members $26, students and seniors $15, and are available by phone at 212-242-0800 or www.joyce.org.

Larry Keigwin's wide-ranging dance career began the day he auditioned as a back-up dancer for Downtown Julie Brown on Club MTV (he got the gig). He continued his dance career working for Chezzam!, enlivening many a bar and bat mitzvah while earning his BA in dance from Hofstra University. His other choreographic credits include work with the pop band Fischerspooner, comedian Murray Hill and as an Associate Choreographer for both the The Radio City Rockettes and the Off-Broadway musical The Wild Party. As a dancer Larry has danced at the Metropolitan Opera in Doug Varone's Le Sacre Du Printemps and Julie Taymor's The Magic Flute in addition to his work with Mark Dendy (Bessie Award 1998 for his performance in Dream Analysis), Robin Becker, Jane Comfort, John Jasperse, Doug Elkins, Zvi Gotheiner, and David Rousseve. He appeared in the Broadway bomb Dance of the Vampires and the Julie Taymor, Oscar nominated film Across the Universe. In his spare time, Larry has created Keigwin Kabaret, a fusion of modern dance, vaudeville, and burlesque acts presented by the Public Theater at Joe's Pub and by Symphony Space.
