Matt and Kourtni impress America with their Foxtrot routine

Matt and Kourtni impress America with their Foxtrot routine

Hola SYTYCD fans! For all those who were unable to watch Thursday's live results, here's a minute-by-minute replay of the events that took place, complete with a little sassy commentary. Check it out after the jump!

9:00pm: Good to see some creative Shane Sparks choreography! He does an awesome job on group numbers.

9:05pm: Katee and Joshua are saved! No brainer, what with the entertaining Tyce Diorio 'ography, which was executed with pizzazz last night.

9:07pm: Twitch and Kherington, with their touching ballroom routine, were saved, thank goodness! They are two of my early faves.

9:08pm: Chelsea and Thayne, who didn't bring the drama, are in the bottom three, and so need to dance for their lives. No big surprise, as Mia points out.

9:12pm: Chelsie and Mark danced the tango last night. I thought the two of them had their eyes on the floor too much, but they were cute, and the footwork was impressive. Looks like America agreed! They are saved.

9:14pm: Matt and Kourtni, who've already been in the bottom three, stepped it up last night, but the Foxtrot is hard to please. America usually votes out the Foxtrot.

9: 15pm: Will might have overshadowed Jessica in last night's hip hop routine, but it didn't matter. All four dancers were safe! Way to mix it up, sneaky little Cat Deely.

An aside: People sure do spell their names strangely on this show! Are they stage names or for real? Kherington, Kourtni, Katee, Chelsie...I guess the parents got creative!

9:20pm: Susie and Marquis' salsa was weaksauce last night. They are voted in the bottom three.

9:22pm: Chris and Comfort performed a krumping routine...interesting to see an entire krumping number on the show. It's only ever shown in spurts.

9:25pm: Courtney and Gev had a semi-soft contemporary routine that didn't quite hit home, but it was good enough to squeak them into the top group. Chris and Comfort must now dance for their lives.

9:30pm: Random Flamenco dancer, looking a little like Patrick Swayze, has the ladies all aflutter in the audience. I'm never much impressed by solo Flamenco though. I think it might work better as a group dance. The fact that the guy is smoldering hot helps him. Otherwise...yawn.

9:35pm: OMG, old lady shuffling was awesome! I love me some Snuggle happy dance action.

9:36pm: Chelsea had messy pirouettes, but great, pure energy, and a beautiful chaine leap turn at the end to showcase her skill.

Thayne was rocking the "look at me" competition face, and his movements were too soft. The solo seemed a bit unprepared.

9:37pm: Susie works the hair! And the high kick! She was the hotness, but she stayed in one spot the whole time.

Marquis: wowee! Nice leaps. Overall, he was kind of sloppy, but much more impressive than Thayne. MAN...we need to fix these kids and their 3-second pirouette preparation times.

9:42pm: Comfort's got sick popping and waving skills. The judges better keep this girl.

9:43pm: Chris: I love this John Legend song. He had the least amount of technical skills in his routine, but also the most genuine emotion. I think Chris is one of the weakest in the top 20, but he has my heart a little.

9:45pm: Florider proves that hip hop really is dead. His rhymes are wack, and he doesn't even rap live. The dancers were...nothing. A couple of booty shakers wasting space on stage. After having seen Kanye West in concert a couple weeks ago, I can't get down with the crap that is Southern bump these days.

9:50pm: Nigel gives props to Kobe Bryant. As a Celtics fan, I tuned out the rest of his speech.

9:51pm: Chelsea is safe tonight! That means...

9:52pm: They ditch hot Tamale Susie and keep Comfort. Good choice, judges. You usually get it right.

9:55pm: Whoah! I take that back. They got rid of Marquis? What are they nuts? He was the best one up there! Granted, his choreography was bad, but you need to look at his skill. He only had 30 seconds.

That's all for this week! Can't wait for next week, when the 16 finalists go head-to-head and toe-to-toe for the top 14 spots. Stay tuned.

The judge vote last night

What the heck was that about? Did you notice at the end, nobody in the audience was clapping? I saw girls with their hands on their hips lookin not so happy.

In my minds eye, the show lost a little more cred last night and really proved that the judges are kinda out of their minds or have other motives. In my opinion, the pool of dudes this year is much stronger than most, if any of the girls. What is up with that? I know tons of great female dancers, and we all know that in the "real world" male talent is the minority. Why is the female talent on the show so weak this year?

I for one, was simply floored by the judges decision last night. Of the three men in the bottom pick last night, Marquis was definitely the most technically proficient. The only reason he ended up there was because his partner was a bit of a miss match with the show (in my opinion).

Of course he pulled out all he could from his bag of tricks......he had 30 seconds and so far on the show the judges seemed to encourage this type of display. I really don't understand how this decision will make for good tv in future episodes. Are they eliminating the competition before all the dancers are on their own and America votes? It is clear that there is something going on here. What? I haven't the foggiest. Maybe they are trying to level the playing field between the girls and the guys?........last night's elimination would have certainly been a step in the right direction (in getting rid of the stronger male dancer).

So now I leave you with my top six picks. It is going to be hard for the guys to pull through, the way things are going. I would def put my money on one of these six taking the title of "America's Favorite Dancer (as picked by the producers of So You think you Can Dance)"

Hey, why not draw it out American Idol style and REALLY let America vote over 3 nights from the beginning?

i totally agree

okay - so marquis didn't really 'choreograph' his routine - but did amazing stuff to impress the judges! chris seemed desperate and ran out of ideas towards the end. as far as susie is concerned - i'm surprised she made it this far at all!
