Dancers Unite - With the Power of Shine!
The Power of Shine! This is a charity that all your dancers at your studio can participate in. Wear sequins for a cause. Elizabeth Barry of Elizabeth Barry and Associates has teamed up with Sequins Direct, a division of the sequin manufacturer that we have worked with for over twenty five years-Sequins International, to promote this project.
If you have missed my April Newsletter at satinstitches.com, I feature this partnership. The Power of Shine is helping to reach dancers from around the world. Two big charities that can help dancers such as yourself, are Dancers Responding to Aids or DRA, and Dancers Care Foundation or DCF, which helps to fight cancer.p>
In our shaky economy of today, let us not forget about our less fortunate friends in the dance world that can benefit from these two fine charity causes.
How can you help? Check out sequinsdirect.com and click on The Power of Shine.
This last month, our production staff at Satin Stitches cut and sewed 500 of these wristbands for a dance company to sell. The sequin trim is provided by Sequins International, also known as Sequins Direct. We provided the production labor for this project, for a minimal credit with Sequins International.
Choose your sequin color and charity, and show your support. Red for DRA and florescent cerise for DCF. Dancers Responding to Aids was founded in 1991 by former Paul Taylor dancers Denise Roberts Hurlin and Hernando Cortez. Read more about their efforts on dradance.org. Dancers Care Foundation was founded by Sandy Coyte, a dance industry maven, to help raise funds to aid doctors who are working with cancer research. Read more about DCF at dancerscare.org.
If you want to get involved, here is how it works. Log on to sequinsdirect.com and choose which color sequin band and charity you wish to contribute to. Purchase the wristbands in bulk, starting at 2 dozen minimum. Buy them for $3 wholesale. For every wristband purchased, $1 goes to your charity. The wristbands have a retail value of $5 each. If your organization sells them for $5, you can either use the additional $2 for studio needs or give this money back to The Power of Shine.
If you REALLY want to make a BIG difference and statement, you can arrange to purchase the rights to a certain color, and promote The Power of Shine on tour, with your dance company or competition company. Help all your dancers to have the opportunity to make a difference!
