Men In Motion: A Dance Journey
What Really Goes On Backstage
MINNEAPOLIS, (Mar. 14, 2008) - The Minnesota Shubert Performing Arts and Education Center is taking audiences behind the curtain March 24-April 18 with its online, Follow the Creative Process Program, Men In Motion: A Dance Journey. In celebration of its 25th Anniversary, Zenon Dance Company is commissioning New York choreographer Sean Curran to create a modern dance for the male dancers of Zenon. The Minnesota Shubert Center will be there from the first rehearsal to the final performance, revealing what it really takes to develop a new performance.
Video interviews, demonstrations, journals, photos and interactive technology, allow viewers to observe the creative process as if they were on the creative team. Every Monday and Wednesday, viewers will hear from Artistic Director Linda Andrews, Choreographer Sean Curran, the lighting designer and costume designer by logging on to the program website (www.mnshubert.org/MenInMotion) after Monday, March 17.
On Fridays, viewers get to peek into the studio where they will see the ups and downs as the dancers and choreographer rehearse. An Ask the Artist feature allows participants to ask questions online and have them answered directly by the artistic team. All program content is FREE to the general public by logging on to www.mnshubert.org/MenInMotion after Monday, March 17.
As a supplement to online programming, Minnesota school students will also have the opportunity to participate in live, interactive Distance Learning Sessions conducted with high-quality IP videoconferencing technology. These sessions put students in direct dialogue with the artists.
"What excites me about Men In Motion is its incredible scope." Says choreographer Sean Curran. "This program will reach so many people and not just people who are dancers or choreographers. People from all over the world will participate. I've always felt that teaching is such an important part of being an artist and to me, Men In Motion is art doing its job."
