Step Up 3-D

With the surprising success of "Step Up 2 the Streets," which has so far grossed a healthy $28.7 million over its opening weekend, Disney has announced that it will film a third installment of the Step Up franchise, this time in live-action 3-D!

The film, tentatively titled "Step Up 3-D," will be produced by Offspring Entertainment partners Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot, who teamed up for the first two movies. "Step Up 2" director Jon Chu is in talks to reprise.

Should be an interesting and innovative undertaking. I wonder how viewing a movie in 3-D might change people's perspectives on watching dance. Will the director be able to capture authentic movement? Will it seem fake? Or could it potentially get even more people hooked on dance?
