WAR/DANCE: A Must-See Film

While watching the Academy Awards last night, I noticed that a film called WAR/DANCE was nominated for Best Documentary Feature. Although it did not win the category, I was still intrigued by what I saw in the short clip, so I looked up the movie online and found the trailer on Youtube. It is quite powerful, check it out:

Set in war-torn Uganda, WAR/DANCE follows the story of orphaned children in a Patongo refugee camp as they practice their number for the upcoming National Music Competition in Kampala. These children, whose lives have been torn apart by the brutality of war, discover that music and dance have the power to inspire, unite, and most importantly, repair the human spirit. With a newfound sense of purpose and courage, they leave the refugee camp and travel through rebel territory to compete for the title. As the movie's website says, whether they win or lose, they show what "true heart can achieve."

What a touching story... I can't wait to rent WAR/DANCE when it comes out on DVD.
