Hillary Clinton Takes the Lead... on the Dance Floor!

We all know Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton the Wellesley and Yale graduate, Hillary Clinton the lawyer at Rose Law Firm, Hillary Clinton the First Lady of Arkansas, Hillary Clinton the First Lady of the United States, Hillary Clinton the two-term New York State Senator, and Hillary Clinton the Presidential hopeful. But have you ever heard of Hillary Clinton the Dancer??

On January 18, Senator Clinton appeared on the Tyra Banks show. Now, we all know that Tyra always asks those tough, hard-hitting questions, so it was no surprise when she proposed the following hypothetical: If the Senator could compete on any TV reality show, which would she pick?

Much like in the Democratic debates, Sen. Clinton was ready with a carefully crafted, yet somewhat witty response. "In my dreams I'd be on 'America's Next Top Model,' but in reality I would have to choose my limited talents and of them, dancing is better than singing," Ms. Clinton explained.

Although I cannot comment on her grand jete, I would agree wholeheartedly that the Senator's vocal talents (or lack thereof) are better suited for the shower than the American Idol stage. If you're a news junkie like I am, you know that the Senator's comment was a reference to the January 27, 2007 televised event in Iowa where Hillary's mic caught her singing along off-key to the National Anthem. Not surprisingly, somebody posted the video on Youtube, and it began circulating through cyber space.

Ok, so, she'll most likely never lead her church choir, but apparently she thinks she's got what it takes to take the lead on the floor. No, not the Senate floor... the dance floor!

Senator Clinton revealed that she would choose to be a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars," but only if she could be paired with a really good partner. According to TMZ.com , a DWTS producer contacted the Senator and invited her to dance on one of the show's tour stops, transforming Tyra's hypothetical question into an actual possibility.

While seeing her compete on "Dancing with the Stars" would be the highlight of my television viewing experience, my hunch is that she is probably too preoccupied trying to win a much more important competition. Although Barack Obama has currently taken the delegate lead, it looks like both candidates might be dancing their way to Denver for the Democratic National Convention in August where the superdelegates will have to decide who must exit stage left. And that, in my opinion, promises to be far more entertaining than any reality TV show!
