Online Tools for Dancers
Dancers are online (which is obvious, if you are reading this). They are making use of the tools and networks that are popping up on the internet and recently I have been using, exploring, and doing a lot of writing and thinking about these tools.
Learn more about what I've discovered and how I utilize these tools after the jump...
Social Networking
The success of sites like MySpace and Facebook and even blogs have created a surge of social networking sites. There are several hubs available specifically for dancers and new social websites and technology are popping up every day. Dancers at a Gathering offers information and links regarding many of these social networks.
Feed Reading
With the increasing number of dance blogs available online, it easy to read and subscribe to information and articles of interest by accessing the website's feed. Using a feed reader, or aggregator, one can create their own dance "magazine," collecting the latest updates from many of the blogs you read (or want to read) regularly.
Your Own Blog
I have been blogging at Dance Advantage for less than a year. However, my knowledge has expanded in this area probably one-hundred-fold since beginning in April. I believe blogs can be a useful tool for studio owners and dance organizations seeking to enhance their presence online and create user-friendly and interactive websites for their clients/members/audiences. I recently contributed a post to DanceStudioOwner.com about this subject. Here is Part One - Why Consider a Studio Blog? and Part Two - Blogs Have the Potential to Boost Your Business of the article.
I hope you find these links helpful! If you have anything to add be sure to leave a comment here or at Dance Advantage.
