P.O.T.U.S.

I live in Washington, DC.
The Presidential election is 2 days away.
This city is crazy right now.

And I love it.

It's one of the things about DC that I love...how passionate people are in this city.

They are passionate about the candidates, political parties, the issues and what they believe in. People are taking a stand for what they believe in.

Right now, it's a time of decisions.  Of choices.

It's exciting. And it is hard not to get wrapped up in.

As a dancer in DC, I feel overlooked by all the politics.  Sometimes it seems like a job as an artist is not as important as all those high-profile government jobs.

But it is.  We, as artists, have a choice everyday, and an opportunity. We have a powerful tool to share our ideas, our thoughts, our concerns with the world.

And that tool is dance.

Sure politicians can speak to thousands and use fancy words and slogans.  But we have the chance to use the art of dance. We can use our bodies and our creativity to convey what we believe and our ideas.

There are so many events in DC happening this week and for the past few weeks, in which dancers are combining their art with politics.  So many that I can't even list them all.  But it's encouraging and a reminder that as artists we can use our art for a purpose.

If we choose to.

In two days, we will have a new President-elect.

But he will not be the only one who can make change happen.

We each have our own way of making it happen.

So make sure that you make your choice on Tuesday but make a choice everyday.

Choose to use your gift and talent to better this world.  To speak your mind.  To embrace the freedom we have as Americans.
