Steps on Broadway Pointe Workshop
Thinking of putting your child on pointe for the first time? If you're in the New York City area, you can check out an informational pointe workshop at Steps on Saturday, October 18 from 4:30-6:30pm. The workshop will feature American Ballet Theatre and New York City ballet stars, as well as a podiatrist who can address foot care, pointe shoe styles, and other issues. For more information, including contacts for registration, read on after the jump!
From the Steps press release:
Lisa Lockwood (ABT/SAS ballet faculty), Jenifer Ringer (NYC Ballet) and Dr. Louis Galli (podiatrist) will address basic foot care for pointe work, what to look for in a shoe, when to change style/brand, and will offer personal insights into this art form. A pointe shoe fair will immediately follow the workshop and will include representatives from leading pointe shoe manufactures including Capezio, Bloch, Gaynor Minden and others.
Kate Thomas, Director of The School at Steps notes, "Going on pointe is a big step for young dancers and proper foot care and the right shoes are critical ingredients in the dancer's proper development, both physically and technically. This workshop, which has been offered for the past three years, has provided accurate information to students and their parents."
For reservations please contact Kat Hall at 212-874-3678 or email at kat@stepsnyc.com. The workshop and fair is free for School at Steps students and $10 for students not currently enrolled.
