Slide Slide Slippery Slide Savion

I saw Savion Glover, Marshall Davis Jr. and Maurice Chestnut perform in Glover's Bare Soundz tour this past Sunday in Glover's hometown of Newark, NJ at NJPAC's beautiful theatre. Here's what I'm thinking:

    1)  I want one of those tapping boxes in my house. One of those, IDK, 4'x6' or maybe 4'x8' about 6" high boxes for my house.

    2)  I want a new, cooler, better, softer, more magical pair of tap shoes with about 23 different taps on each shoe to make me jingle and rat-a-tat-tat more than ever.

    3)  I want a pair of pants like they have--a pair that's loose, cool, make-me-look-fluid yet in control and polished. (I already have the loose, long-sleeved, yellow button and collared shirt and a white T.)

Meanwhile, I'm going to practice my wings, cramp rolls, fully loaded yet make-'em smooth time steps, and my slide-slide-slippery-slide Savion-style make-'em woo turns. I think I could be ready by next fall. I wannabe.

My fave piece for the show?  "Bare Soundz."  Oh, and "Trading Places."  Ah, the reminiscence of Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk. So nice to see, hear and feel. Thanks Savion, Marshall and Maurice.  I enjoyed the show.

A. C. McCall

I love the way A. C. McCall writes about dance. I can't wait to see videos of her choreography!
