Stealing Steps - From Tap to Flamenco to Clogging to What Else?

Last night's "Dancing With the Stars" featured a fantastic flamenco group called Los Vivancos - seven studly Spanish brothers who flaunt the sex appeal as well as the flashy footwork.  Here's a clip of them on the show, but read on for some questions and a poll.

I don't know about you, but I see a few steps in there that I'd like to steal. What about you? And what about the deeper question - is it proper (whatever "proper" means) for a tap dancer to steal flamenco steps?

I wrote an article recently on the connection between clogging and tap dance, and while doing it I learned that clogging has been stealing steps from tap for at least the last twenty years.  I was told that the late, great Gregory Hines was the hero of everyone who performed percussive dance, and that he was one of the reasons why clogging adopted a more contemporary approach, at least in certain competition circles.

What do you think?  Is it a good idea for dance forms to cross-pollinate, or should we keep each dance form distinct?  After all, we could lose what's special about each type of dance if we don't keep some standards and traditions.

Vote below and let me know what you think!

Poll

Should dancers steal steps from other traditions?
Sure - art is art!
Bad idea - everything becomes a mish mash
It depends - I like blended art, but some times "pure" dance forms are needed
The question misses the point - dancers have been stealing steps from other disciplines for eons
