As many of you know, the United Dance Merchants of America (UDMA) Dance Resource and Costume Preview Show took place this past weekend in Seacaucus, New Jersey at the Meadowlands Expo Center. It was like a Who's Who of the dance industry - everyone had a booth, from competition directors to the owners of the most prominent costume companies. And of course, the Dancer Publishing was there, giving out free issues of Dancer Magazine, showing passersby everything DancerUniverse.com can offer them, and also explaining the newest endeavor - the Year in Review 2008. I made sure to take tons of pictures while I was there... I think I'm becoming known as the dance paparazzi!

Pictures and other fun stuff after the jump!

Founded in 1958 by some of the foremost leaders in the dance industry, UDMA has since been a vital part of the growth and development of dance. The Dance Resource and Costume Show, which is held every year in four locations throughout the U.S., consists of seminars for teachers and studio owners as well as an exhibition of vendors selling music, dancewear, flooring, shoes, photography and publications.

The New Jersey exhibit had a fashion show where teachers were able to view recital costumes on real dancers while also enjoying special performances by professional dancers. This year we saw Ashley Canterna of the Pretty Girls of Dance and Craig DeRosa of the Bad Boys of Dance. It was such a nice treat!

After the show, we all made our way across the street to the special 50th anniversary cocktail party where we were able to mingle with all of the key leaders in the industry. For me, this was such a pleasure because I was able to meet face to face with people with whom I usually communicate by phone or email.

The last day was more mingling, meeting, and greeting at the Expo Center. It was a lot of work, but such a great resource for all of us in the industry.

A big thanks to UDMA for putting together a great show and I hope to see you all next year!
