Me'Shell Ndegeocello

In order to find new music I often ask friends about their choices for album of the year, or their favorite find of the year. This way I am able to experience music that I otherwise would never have been able to hear on my own. I trade music with my friends as well and have even turned friends on to artists that they became bigger fans of than I ever was. I enjoy this process immensely and the music it has introduced me to.

As I am still unsure of my album of the year, I thought it a good idea to post about a previous year's favorite album. About a year ago, a friend of mine sent me a few songs from the Me'Shell Ndegeocello album Bitter. The songs were Adam and Beautiful, the first a building string introduction to the album and the second an amazingly simple love song. After buying the album I realized that I was familiar with the song Bitter which had been a popular lyrical song for competition dance. The album is a treasure trove of emotionally well crafted songs. I suggest this album to any and all dance teachers who do not already have it.

Below is an interview that Me'Shell Ndegeocello - a person who rarely does interviews - did on the WNYC radio show Studio 360.
