Dolly Dinkle's offbeat Dance Blog: Dance Video Sweater

Dolly Dinkle's Off Beat Dance Blog:

Hello Y'all! Dolly Dinkle is here to expose you to the world of off beat dance on the web. Welcome, enjoy my video diary and let's get weird!

Visit my blog each week for the zany, the exotic, the hip, the funny, sometimes most amazing and always the most fun you can have while watching dance videos while sitting in front of your computer!

So I have been collecting clips from YouTube over the past few months. I have a little database going. This week I turn your attention to music videos. I don't know about you guys, but having grown up in the MTV generation, music videos really opened up the world of dance for me. I have not seen the following are videos on television. Then again I do not watch music television. Do they even play videos anymore? Some are independent music videos (meaning not the official video for the song) and for me, all of them blend the art of dance and film in a way that makes me all warm and fuzzy on this cold winter day.

This week's topic......Dance in music videos (the Dolly D. playlist)

This one is cute as cute can get!!! Kings of Convenience: I'd Rather Dance With you

Not much dancing here, but I liked the energy.

Usually one of my pet peeves (ala the stick of gum with a Scottish accent, the Geico gecko or the multitude of other inanimate/absurd objects brought to life). But I thought this one was actually kind of fun.

Grey Gardens is a stunning documentary account of a mother and daughter living in a house in the Hamptons. I absolutely love this woman. She is sad and yet so at peace in her own little world at the same time. If you are old enough, and can catch the movie sometime I recommend taking a peek. It will leave you confused and perhaps a little bit somber but it will certainly leave you thinking.

Street Dancer in Shibuya. I told you she'd be back and this guy did a great job capturing her essence. If you're out there and you read this, street dancer, keep on doing your thing!

Alessandra Ferri and Sting. Now, I am not the biggest Sting fan but, Alessandra Ferri happens to be my favorite ballet dancer of all time.

Not a whole lot of dancing here. But I liked the song and the sentiment. Backstage with the Modern Dancers by Great Lake Swimmers.

Feist: 1234.......I know you've seen it! So have I and I just wanted to sneak it in here because the ipod commercial does it no justice. A friend shared this with me months ago. I like it, and so here it is.

Fiona Apple: This one is for all of you comp kid haters out there. You know who you are.

Well that's all this week. Until next week......

Yours in dance,
Dolly D.
