Inside the Mind of Alonzo King

L.A-based film production company City Projects and non-profit artist organization United States Artists recently collaborated on a project called "Encounter: USA Fellows," which features video shorts profiling artists and their work. One of their latest videos is of choreographer and Artistic Director Alonzo King, of San Francisco-based company LINES Ballet.

King is articulate and eloquent, as always, delivering direction to dancers as his vision take shape before him. Watching his choreographic process is fascinating, but it would be more telling if you could see the actual steps as they relate to his comments (all of the dancing is filmed through a romantic haze which blurs the movement).

City Projects and United States Artists are looking for feedback on their videos. What do you think about the Alonzo King short? How might you have told his story through film?
