Four gifted female choreographers make their Joyce debuts in one week of alternating programs designed to showcase the talents of these young artists. Camille A. Brown, known to audiences from the work she has created for Urban Bush Women and Alvin Aliey American Dance Theater, now comes to The Joyce with her own ensemble. Joining Brown is Andrea Miller, whose company, Gallim Dance, has exploded onto the national dance scene with technical virtuosity and strikingly physical works.
In an alternate program, Kate Weare Company and Monica Bill Barnes & Company share
the stage in an evening of dance that pairs BarnesâTM charmingly rickety, beautifully tawdry, and profoundly good-hearted pieces with WeareâTMs wildly ferocious, startling, and highly sensuous work.
All four artists take the stage for an afternoon performance on Saturday, August 14.
