1/2 Life investigates the survival of the body amidst a world of scientific research, data, and control. The performance hovers geographically at the edges of the Pacific Ocean - connecting nuclear super power USA, atomic survivor Japan and nuclear free New Zealand. A contemporary ritual to address our dormant nuclear nightmares. Dance and video artists Olive Bieringa and Otto Ramstad bring together an extraordinary collaborative team including composer and harpist Zeena Parkins, visual artist Emmett Ramstad, physicist Bryce Beverlin II and performer Takemi Kitamura.

StoneDance Productions and The Theater At Meydenbauer present 'Chop Shop:  Bodies of Work', the Eastside's only Contemporary Dance Festival.   Returning for its third year, this unique festival is a rare opportunity to explore the truly original talents of Seattle-based and Eastside - based artists in two special performances.  This is the BEST of the Seattle/Eastside dance community in ONE festival.  Each of these prolific choreographers has presented work to numerous critical successes throughout Europe, Asia, Latin America and the United States.  Though each company/artist presented possesses their own individual voice, they are all unified in the contemporary language of dance and its power to stir the senses through the visceral moving image.

This is an event not to be missed!  Last yearâ€^TMs sold out performances established Chop Shop as one of the most highly anticipated dance events in the greater Seattle/Eastside area.

A RARE OPPORTUNITY:

â€oeReading Dance”:  A FREE lecture on Sunday February 14th at 1:00.  Experience a â€oebehind the scenes” look at how contemporary dances are formed.  Learn about meaning and imagery behind the choreographerâ€^TMs unique movement language and how the creative process is developed and refined.

The Shootout Dance Experience

The Shootout Dance Experience is home to The Studio Shootout, Choreographer Shootout & Scholarship Shootout talent competitions. The Shootout is also home to one of the hottest teaching faculties in the country.

In the $2000 Studio Shootout studios may enter up to 20 routines in this Friday performance. Studios that enter at least One Solo, One Duo/Trio, One Small Group & One Large Group will qualify for our "Battle of the Best." Studios may enter up to 20 routines but ONLY their top scoring solo, duo/trio, small group, large will qualify for the Battle. In the Battle of the Best those top four routines will re-perform for a new panel of judges on Sunday. Routines scores will be  50% judging panel and 50% online voting. All four routines scores will then be added to come up will one total studio score with the highest scoring studio taking home $2000.

The Choreographer Shootout is a one of a kind competition for the up and coming choreographer on the circuit. Each competitor will teach a 45 minute master class as well as present two original routines all to be scored by our judging panel. The choreographer with the highest score will win a spot on the Shootout faculty for the upcoming season.

The Scholarship Shootout is a soloist competition set to reward the student first. Participants will all where numbers in class. Throughout the day judges make their rounds through the classes. The Top Ten will be selected from their class participation. These Top Ten will then be asked to perform their solos for our panel , with the Top Soloist taking home the Charly Marie Scholarship which includes scholarships to Broadway Dance Center, Applause Talent, The Shootout, In10sity & 2 Days in the O.C.

The Shootout faculty is made up of some the most sought after teachers in the country. The Shootout convention line up includes;
