About This Group

As a non-profit membership organization in our 75th year of dance education, DEA believes the foundations of dance are important in the success of each student/teachers' professional development. Such training can be achieved through our offerings of Teacher Training & Certification and Ballet Seminar Intensive. As well, DEA travels the competitive dance circuit, providing students across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, & South America the opportunity to experience stage life while being rewarded for their technical dance abilities and challenged by their fellow peers. DEA celebrates the end of each programming year by presenting one National in the Eastern, Southern and Western regions of the United States. We are continuously striving to meet the needs of our talented members as we conceive new ways in which to evolve the concept of dance in all its interpretations for all to enjoy.

Oscar winning actress, Cate Blanchett is the Artistic Director. Mr Giorgio Armani is the patron. I am introducing you to Sydney Theatre Company, home performance venue for the world renowned, Sydney Dance Company. What an amazing venue to house such an incredible dance company. All so shiny and modern, this artsy, wharf side complex encases a book store, bar, restaurant and state of the art theatres.
I recently attended STC to watch Sydney Dance Company`s performance of MERCURY. I must say, simplicity speaks volumes boldly.

Britney's CIRCUS continues around the world but gathers some disappointing press.
Absolutely trashed by fans and media alike for not singing throughout her concert, her lip-synching has caused uproar for ticket holders who paid to hear her live and has fans walking out! Brit and camp claim that her show is too vigorous with all of the dance involved. I went along to see what the fuss is all about.

Yes, you read correctly. MEN in tutus and pointe shoes!
If you enjoy over the top humor, you had better buy a ticket to see the `Trocks` of Monte Carlo next time they are in a city near you. Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo is my subject of review this week.

Laughs galore! The audience were riveted and belly laughing for the entire three act duration of skit comedy, choreographed under the guise of classical ballet. Camp and kitch, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo is a novelty that has stood the test of time. Initiated in 1974, these men in tights have been entertaining audiences all over the world year on year.

My latest news comes from Japan. Tokyo infact, where I saw the Akasaka Odori 50th anniversay dance performance.

It was memorable and so very different. I studied Japanese dance when I was younger so it was a treat to see a traditional live performance of this magnitude.

I was invited to the Family and Friends show, playing the evening prior to opening night for Mamma Mia in Sydney, Australia.
Most people haven`t been to a run like this. The director and team are set up front of house in the theatre. The show is formally introduced to the audience and you as the audience, consisting of family and friends of the artists, are rooting for the performers to do their very best. Command the laughs, perform all of the choreography with precision, hit every note and feed off of the energy of the audience.
