PRIMA

Organization: Performance Space 122

Location: 150 First Ave. at E. 9th St. New York, NY 10009

PRIMA by LeeSaar the Company:

LeeSaar's dances always require unwavering attention" - Jennifer Dunning, The New York Times

The physicality and explosive tempos synonymous with LeeSaar's award-winning choreography mature and ripen in the company's fourth presentation at Performance Space 122. In Prima, five arresting performers explore a world of pure sensation and energy. Teasing out the feminine and the virile, they are alternately playful and bashful as they navigate sexuality and temptation.

The company's process and technique is influenced by the Gaga training of Ohad Naharin. Lee and Saar are recipients of the Six Point Fellowship 2007-2009, the Guggenheim Fellowship in Choreography for 2008, and the New York Foundation for the Art Fellowship for 2008.

ARCHETYPE: Images of Saint Joan

Organization: Concert Dance Company

Location: College of Southern Nevada, Cheyenne Campus 3200 East Cheyenne Avenue Nicholas J. Horn Theatre Las Vegas, Nevada 89030

"Archetype: Images of Saint Joan"
Friday December 4th at 7:30 PM and Saturday December 5th at 2:00 & 7:30 PM
College of Southern Nevada, Cheyenne Campus
3200 East Cheyenne Avenue
Nicholas J. Horn Theatre

Concert Dance Company and the CSN Dance Ensemble join forces in a multi-media examination of the life, times, and imagery associated with Joan of Arc. Choreographer Kelly Roth's 70 minute "Archetype: Images of St. Joan" probes the French cultural icon's inner voices, outer struggles, and the various layers of meaning attached to "I first became interested in Joan of Arc when as a child I discovered her distant presence in my family tree," says Roth. "As I continued to study her life it became apparent that others also felt a kinship to her. Contemporary covens of witches, feminists, Nazis, lesbians, the French conservative party, as well as several major religious sects in addition to the Catholic Church all claim her as their own," he added. Roth's first revival of his 1999 choreographic exploration juxtaposes historical scenes with the mysticism and spirituality inherent in the familiar account of the young peasant girl whose "voices" inspired the liberation of her country, but ultimately led to her burning as a heretic. Dance critic Hal de Becker praised the production for "Roth's historically perceptive choreography that lay somewhere between dance and ritualistic mime." CallBack
A reception will follow each of the evening performances providing the audience with an opportunity to enjoy refreshments and meet with the dance artists.  For more information please call the box office at 651-LIVE (5483)

Terrible Things takes audiences on a T-R-I-P inside the many lives of Katie Pearl and her action-figure literary mom. Expect an in-your-body out-of-body experience shaped by Katie Pearl, three killer dancers: Emily Johnson, Morgan Thorson, and Karen Sherman, two Brazilian Jiu Jitsu wrestlers, and 1000 marshmallows. Crime or Emergency PLUS Exclusive Late Night Edition: "Emergency or Crime"

Organization: Performance Space 122

Location: 150 1st Ave at 9th Street New York, NY 10009

Crime or Emergency
PLUS Exclusive Late Night Edition: "Emergency or Crime"
By Sibyl Kempson & Mike Iveson Jr.
Presented by Performance Space 122

THE OFFICIAL WORLD PREMIERE
"...my favorite, favorite thing that I have encountered in the last few years... I froze into that enchanted immobility that only the most spectacular shows provoke... I would actually buy your ticket to this show. I want you to see it that much. See you at PS!" - Helen Shaw via Claudia La Rocco's Performance Club Blog Post "The A-List"

Two iconoclastic downtown performers threaten our Aristotelian/Stanislavskian conceptions of contemporary American theatre and identity as we safely understand it. In other words:

Mike Iveson, with his demonic arrangements of the indigenous music of their native New Jersey, joins Kempson in a rapturous and obsessive melodrama of consciousness. Together they distill this 11-person play into a desperate and harried duet (Kempson performs 10 out of 11 characters; Iveson performs the 11th and also underscores the entire evening with barely recognizable piano arrangements of early Bruce Springsteen songs.) Part cabaret fiasco, part aesthetic holocaust, their dual dueling performance pits them in a life-or-death struggle for the right to devour the soul of the play.

PLUS Exclusive Late Night Edition: "Emergency or Crime"
Please note that at the Late Shows, the part played by Ms. Kempson will be played by Mr. Iveson; and the part and piano played by Mr. Iveson will be played or appear to be played by Ms. Kempson. In this compulsory late night companion piece to "Crime or Emergency", a fifth dimension of dementia ensues. Recommended for those who have already seen Crime and Emergency or who do not get out of bed until 930 PM (wake up Spaniards!) Warning: Ears and eyes may bleed.

Single Tickets: $20 or get The Package: see both for $30.
