Friday Night Swing & Social Dance

Best of all the group is open to the public (yes that is you) and no partners are necessary. In Adult Dance Technique classes, Jane Franklin offers challenging methods to integrate and refine movements. As a Certified Movement Analyst (Laban Institute for Movement Studies), Franklin applies similar concepts to choreography, connecting the visual and visceral and acknowledging individual experience no matter the age, past training or physical proficiency of the participant. Young Dancers Project is designed for movers, ages 7 - 11. Students will be welcomed into a warm, non-competitive environment that gives a "team" experience to the creative learner. The goal of our Young Dancers Project is to guide individual expression, to encourage group participation, and to share inventive ideas through dance and movement. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings, 5:30 - 6:30 pm and will culminate in a matinee performance on November 8 at Gunston Theatre One in Arlington, VA. Attendance at all rehearsals is NOT required. All levels of dance experience welcome.

exploration of representations of the female body - embedded within art history,
pop culture, and the performance of daily life - dissolving into the physicality
of contemporary dance.

In the last 17 years we have grown into one of the most admired and respected comps on the circuit. Instead of sitting on our heels, every season we pursue technological advancement, administrative improvement and artistic excellence to provide every participant with the best competition experience possible.
Our innovations over the years have included the novice division where new dancers can showcase their developing talents, the use of custom-built software to guarantee accurate judging, and the use of real-time tape recorders to capture judging comments instantly. At every OSA competition, punctuality and efficiency are key and it shows. We are known as the most on-time competition out there. In addition, our competitions are about more than just competiting. OSA compliments the usual competition atmosphere to make our events educational, supportive and fun. We do this by giving a wide variety of awards, from the prestigious title awards to the wacky Best Comedy award.
By embracing all levels and areas of dance, we hope to achieve a true community atmosphere where our beloved art can flourish. The glamour of Broadway and groundbreaking of professional dance have their seeds right here in your studios and on our stages. The highly-anticipated Dance Festival of India 2009 takes the theme, Traditions in Translation, with a focus on traditional dances from India as they are re-interpreted for the 21st century audience. This exciting 3 days event will present world renowned guest artists from India presenting a wide range of classical dance styles: Kathak by Pundit Rajendra Gangani; Sattriya Dance by Sattriya Dance Company; Mohinyattam by Vijayalakshmi, and Kuchipudi by Vempati Ravishankar. The festival will also feature full length productions by area dancers in Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Manipuri, Odissi, and Kuchipudi. This year's festival includes, for the first time, documentary films provided by Embassy of India, on classical dance as an educational component.

This line-up of choreographers is exclusive to The PULSE, and we proudly present an unprecedented dance event that is sure to inspire, motivate and educate each dancer that attends.
The PULSE is a cutting-edge workshop designed to give dancers from all over the country the opportunity to train with the industry's hottest names in dance. The choreographers strive to give participants the tools and education necessary to explore pure movement as well as popular dance forms.
Each workshop offers two full days of classes with The PULSE faculty members, and a TEACHERS ONLY private class. The weekend event also features a Performance Showcase with critiques by The PULSE faculty and is open to all participants that wish to be part of this all-student show.
