The events of our lives are constantly subject to chance. In Jane Franklin Danceâ€TMs Incidence, the company employs dance, music and installation art to explore the impact of the unexpected on our often highly structured lives. Artist Howard Connellyâ€TMs life size, kinetic sculpture becomes a roulette wheel with each motion triggering corresponding musical accompaniment and choreography. In roulette, a wheel begins spinning in one direction, and a ball in the opposite direction. The sculpture works on a similar principal to direct the choices of the dancers and musicians. No two performances happen in the same sequence. In Incidence music and dance, like the wheel and ball, meet by coincidence. Each performance is set to composer Gina Biverâ€TMs original compositions and live music from Splash Ensemble, presents a score of varying styles.
