Details

Experience an outstanding evening of dance with American Repertory Ballet at Peter Norton Symphony Space featuring two new works by The Companyâ€TMs Artistic Director, Graham Lustig, and international choreographer, Lisa de Ribere, in addition to two works by Twyla Tharp. Shadows in the Attic by Graham Lustig is a new work inspired by the powerful spirit of survival expressed by the family of Anne Frank and their extraordinarily brave Dutch friends whose daily help was essential to the familyâ€TMs safety. Starry Nights by Lisa de Ribere is a part of American Repertory Balletâ€TMs commissioning program, Dancing Through the Ceiling, which promotes classically-based women choreographers. De Ribereâ€TMs piece about the creative muse is inspired by three paintings by Van Gogh, Starry Night Over the Rhone; 1888, The Café Terrasse, Arles, at Night; 1888, and The Starry Night; 1889. In addition to these two pieces, American Repertory Ballet will perform two Twyla Tharp pieces, Sinatra Suite,  a duet choreographed to five songs sung by Frank Sinatra, and Octet, one of Tharpâ€TMs most distilled creations. Rarely seen in New York, in this â€oefully abstract” ballet, Tharp presents men and women in equal measure numerically, but shows off the women somewhat more prominently using the music of bassist Edger.
