Said nothing about adjusting breathing to  beat of  music.  Meant  if you breathe naturally your inhale is going to fall on the short hard beat. (Just try  walk few steps naturally.  Pay attention to  natural  pattern of breathing.  As you take 1st step you need more power to start moving so without even thinking you will naturally inhale.  Ever seen anybody start exhaling as he starts to walk?  It is unnatural and will leave you out of breath.  If you inhale you will feel more power and comfortable . This will keep the proper beat and accent  the music.    Breathing adjusts to pace of your walking, running or  DANCING.   International Rumba `s inhale Naturally falls on the  4-1. That is  beat want to accent, it is  step you need  strongest power on. To teach student  dance  have to first teach   proper count and  breathing that goes with it.  Proper breathing keeps  you on right beat, helps  posture, shaping for  dance. Did not mean  adjust  breathing to  counts.  Breathing will adjust your dancing where you will naturally accent  the Inhale (strong Powerful beat) and exhaling takes your body longer so it will soften the long soft beats of the music for which your steps should be longer and softer.   Body naturally adapts to  music.    Top coaches use this technique .
